Arts, literature, passion …these are three things that cushion the minutest tint of my derangement and sanity. As I am juxtaposed to my contemporaries, I am just a typical nonsensical lackadaisical emblem of idiocy. But I know deep within the chasm of my intricate soul, there lurks the unfathomable glitch and glamour of my true self.
My childhood days were full of painting and writing. I remember when I had my first stroke of the Crayola crayons to a then clean sheet of paper with blue and red lines. The memory keeps rushing back to me (I wish I could have written the exact date) as I had drawn a bird which I replicated from my mother’s work. My father busted to loud guffaws and gave me exaggerated praises when he saw that ‘treasure’ (that is how I’m considering it).
I was six when I started joining art competitions. Then my high school days were full of rich memories of how I reaped and lost art competitions. I cried like I spilled milk, but I laugh to my heart’s content. This stage I consider the most plenteous part of how I hone that artistic skill of my pixilated hands, though in college I had beaten artists from the different parts of Region I that catapulted me to the limelight of let’s just say being ‘famous’ to my competitors (Let me just put it that way. Anyway, this is my work and DEFINITELY not yours. Hehe). I always smile at the very thought of winning in a painting contest that qualified my work to compete for the countries in the entire Asia Pacific.
Writing is a different story. This started when I was a couch potato at a very young age, i.e. elementary. My number channel then was Cartoon Network. Funny. If not watching, I’m bound to doing three things: (1) reading books, (2) reading books, (3) reading books. It seems that these were my opium or ecstasy or marijuana. There was a point when I really wanted to create a story that I can officially call ‘mine’. I have drawn the cover of that supposed book. That was my first short story, and I was just barely in grade six then. Too bad, I thought I lost the manuscript then. I was dumfounded when I found it when I was in college.
I had my poem “My Wings” published in a national English magazine when I was fourteen. I earned my fame in high school being the Associate Editor and Cartoonist. In college, I boosted sweat just to be the Editor-in-chief of our college paper, and Associate Editor for the university.
Designing clothes is another great story which is quite intertwined with my passion in painting. Chills of excitement suffuses me everytime that I create dresses especially gowns. I want to emphasize a woman’s body through my creations. I also want to showcase the curves and pits of a man’s body but that realization just came to me as I was in loved with the hot pictures of JIRO SHIRAKAWA.
Arts, literature, passion- these are three indispensable things that I can not live without. These are like the air that I breathe the water that I drink and the food that supplement my body for survival.
These are anchored to my soul that shouts: I am arts! I am literature! I am passion! …I AM ME …
