Metro's Fashion Finds: Best Fashion Concept of 2009

by MARK PILLOS

BLACK TIERED STRAPLESS GOWN; SHORT TULLE OVERLAY BY JOHN HERRERA

Since time immemorial, there was only Darkness ... Ebony vacuum creeps in every space...There was no room for nothing but the emblem of death ...

CREME GOWN WITH BUTTERFLY SLEEVES AND BALL SKIRT BY CJ CRUZ
Then there was Light ... The allegory of life ... Born to battle the wickedness of Darkness ...

GREEN HANDPAINTED DRESS BY PUEY QUINONES
The war between the two was the birth of  Nature ... She was the subject for competition ...

PEACOCK PRINTED SKIRT BY PUEY QUINONES; YELLOW GOWN WITH CUTOUTS BY JEROME LORICO, LONG VEST BY PUEY QUINONES
Vegetation seethes in trying to get a grip of the coveted Nature ... Sun, the Light herself, nurtures Nature with her caressing beams ...

WHITE STRAPLESS DRESS WITH RUFFLED SKIRT BY VEEJAY FLORESCA; BLACK CAPE AND SKIRT BY JAMES REYES

Like day and night, Light and Dark get their own victories and failures. They can never be winner at the same time. If one wins, one loses like life and death. It is not about passion. It is not about will. It is about DESTINY  ...

MSN's Worst and Best Dressed 2009

It's been a while since I have had a new blog due to Christmas odds and ends- part of it giving gifts and receiving as well hehe. But now that I am back, let me serve you a platter of fashion grub. Some of them you might want to taste. Some to chew. Some are not that palatable for fashion taste, but it's your prerogative to have a lick of it or eat it for your system.

Here is a cornucopia of fashion retrospect of 2009. Enjoy!!!

BEST DRESSED 2009

ANNE HATHAWAY

Looking like a divine vision in an Armani Prive fishtail gown with palliates delicately sewn onto it, Anne glows like a 40s movie starlet with her slim figure hugged in the right places.

BLAKE LIVELY

Blake caused quite a commotion in this single-sleeve teal Versace gown, highlighting her best features – her décolletage and those long legs.

ANGELINA JOLIE

In a blush hued Versace gown in chiffon that drapes in all the right places, Angie pairs dreaminess with unexpected scarlet lips.

MEGAN FOX

Megan shows us exactly why she tops the list of sexiest starlets in this one-shoulder burnt red Roberto Cavalli number with a slit up to her hip.

OLIVIA WILDE

A Marchesa gown with intricate details and skirting clings Olivia’s figure perfectly.

WORST DRESSED 2009

SOLANGE KNOWLES

Especially known for her odd mismatching of prints and colours all at once, Solange should take a cue from older sister Beyoncé and switch stylists.

RUSSEL BRAND

The comedian makes us laugh for all the wrong reasons with his crazy outfits.

PAULA ABDUL

Paula seems to be confused and unsure of whether she should look half her age or twice her age in garish, oddball outfits.

BAI  LING

Bai Ling aims to shock, and she certainly does when she arrives decked in outfits that make her look like she threw on everything she had in her room.

LADY GAGA

She’s known just as much for her shocking taste as she is for her catchy tunes but while her songs are hits, her fashion choices are mostly misses!

MARK'S POINT: I'm so sorry MSN, but I can't go for your statement "her fashion choices are mostly misses!". In fact, she's one of the few persons who revolutionizes fashion. I go for her fashion statement. It's fresh and fab!!!!

BEST MEN 2009

DAVID BECKHAM

Our ever-so-stylish footballer constantly looks polished, whether in a three-piece suit or in jeans and a vest.

ZAC EFRON

It’s not just the hair; Zac has a thing for suits that are slightly undone, well-cut jeans and shirts.

BRAD PITT

Brad sticks to what he knows works best for him: Tailored preppy looks that occasionally push the boundaries.

JOHNNY DEPP

Johnny always surprises us with his quirky, yet put-together style and many pairs of glasses or tinted sunnies.

ED WESTWICK

The poster bad boy can do no wrong in schoolboy suit jackets and contrasting pants.

STYLE ICONS OF 2009

ASHLEY TISDALE

This HSM hottie never fails to excite us with a splash of colour as she embraces the latest trends with vigour.

DIANE KRUGER

Every single outfit that Diane has stepped out in this year has been nothing short of wow as she has the innate knack of letting her clothes speak for themselves minus overpowering accessories.

NICOLE RICHIE

Nicole’s the ultimate bohemian princess and we just love all the maxi dresses she steps out in, complete with House of Harlow 1960 jewellery.

RIHANNA

The style chameleon of the year assimilates any style imaginable – whether street, punk, girlie or outlandish – and comes out looking right on trend.

Featured Model: Marx Topacio

by MARK PILLOS

Tall, dark and handsome…that’s exactly MARX TOPACIO.

There is a great number of Philippine women who likes men having this feature. My friend is going gaga with this hot man who has had a lot of exposures from print to ramp modeling.

Topacio is currently a part of Professional Models Association of the Philippines (PMAP). With his trancing body, he is one of the favorite male mannequins of well-thought-of designers during Philippine Fashion Week.

Topacio is an epitome of a Filipino man. With that suntan skin and a beguiling aura, women could really flock towards him and try to fit in into his arms.
