Realization perfused to me that there are good things being a Filipino.
Mr. James, a Korean friend of our Executive Director said that “I envy Filipinos because they can enjoy life to the fullest.”
It’s been a long time since I felt good things of being a Filipino. That was when I was young. When a candy or lollipop could cure anything wrong. But as I grow up and saw reality- where government is treated as a famous brand of a toilet paper- smile seldom suffice my ambitious dreams.
I thank Mr. James for letting me realize that life is not all about living in a mansion, wearing designer’s clothes, and splurging every convenience of lying on a bed of fortune.

It’s about being happy. Not because you have that scrumptious food from Paparazzi or coffee from Starbucks.
Many typhoons have whipped Philippines. Many of these have paralyzed the country’s economy. But Filipinos can still smile despite of these.
Recently, Philippines ranked as the 14th Happiest Country in the world. It is the only Asian country included in the Top 20.
Now I know why I was easily affected by the words of Mr. James. After all, I’m still proud being a Filipino.
