ECLIPSE captured through lens

by Mark Pillos

The fusion of photographer Caloi Estanislao, accessory designer Mikee Tejano (owner of Glamz and Glitz), makeup artists Joshen Vahn Lee and Xixen, and me, the book ECLIPSE by Stephenie Meyer was captured through lens.

Actually, it was a day of no sleep with eyebags eating up my cheeks. Thank you so much for that layers and layers of concealer. I was able to hide it.

It was so funny because I caught myself catching a five-minute nap on the shoot.

It was worth the effort and the anticipation for days while Caloi was giving final touches for the photos.

These photos are evident of hardwork from all the people I worked with.

I’m just wondering who will I be working with next time. I love meeting a lot of people.

EGYPTIAN SCALES FROM A DIFFICULTY GLUTTON

HOLIDAY COLLECTION 2010 by JOHN HERRERA

By Mark Pillos

One of the persons I admire in the fashion industry is John Herrera. Aside from being down to Earth, he is jolly to be with. He is even thoughtful for the little effort that you can do.

There are a lot of designers out there who seem to be allergic with mortals (not to name names) , though John Herrera is definitely not that type of designer. He is friendly, humble, and a what-you-see-what-you-get person.

I saw him sketching his designs before the fashion week, and admiration suffused me like a strong torrent of water. My eyes widened with his skillful hands, and concluded that he critically thought in every line that he made.

He is meticulous in details and flow of fabrics. He once mentioned that he is “glutton for difficulty” which I really saw from his works.

He is the first designer who was so thoughtful for the designs I made. It is just flattering to hear that from a person you really admire. (Oh well, I’m stealing the spotlight again LOL)

With fabrics scrupulously chosen, horse hair, piping, leatherette scales, he was able to keep the viewers glued to each piece of his collection.

Paired with bags and accessories designed by his twin brother Paul Herrera, his collection was added with ostentatious glitter and sophistication.

With the use of gold, beige and black, he gave life to a contemporary Cleopatra- a queen splurging neither in pyramids nor deserts, but in metropolitan glamour.

Surprisingly, after the fashion show, he asked us if his collection is not bad.
Of course it isn’t. Indeed it is excellent! It is great!!! No one would dare question me if I say that it was the best collection in the Grand Allure Show.

Congratulations JOHN HERRERA !!! =)

THE CUT TECHNICIAN

HOLIDAY COLLECTION 2010 by ARIES LAGAT

By Mark Pillos

It is not a joke how Aries Lagat did his Holiday 2010 collection. With hundreds of cuts and stitches that you can’t imagine how he did. Questions might spin in your mind how this technician made a perfectly awesome collection.

The people were so silent while the fashion show was going on. Only hushes of admiration. I even caught viewers from the front row who can’t close their mouth, bombarded with delight.

One of my friends told me that Aries Lagat is not selfish teaching his craft (unlike other established designers. Just a thought). All of his students must be so lucky for this. (Lemme guess. More students will enroll at FIP tomorrow. LOL)

Each from his collection bear a unique cut and flow. It was totally a crackerjack collection. It was an evident of savviness and creativity.

After the show, a loud applause boomed in the the SMX Convention Center function room.

Congratulations ARIES LAGAT !!! =)

THE CREATIVE THINKER

HOLIDAY COLLECTION 2010 by SHANON PAMAONG
By Mark Pillos

This is my favorite among Pamaong's collection.

Shannon Pamaong, the Director of Fashion Institute of the Philippines has made an inimitable collection. With his talented mind and skillful hands, he was able to create a matchless, beyond imitation masterpiece which he called Dubai Holiday.

With the use of piping and a multitude of technical jargons in the fashion world, he was able to present a flawless string of clothes for both men and women for different occassions. His collection is undoubtedly impeccable. It was awesome! It was majestic!

He told me one time “You’re just being bias ‘coz you’re from FIP (laugh)”. I answered back, “Sir, no I’m not. Even if I’m not from FIP, I would say the same thing.” (A little of FB thing LOL)

Congratulations SHANNON PAMAONG =)

I was able to touch this while they were doing it. whew! piping!!! I love it!

My heart stopped beating while staring at that six-pack. This is no exaggeration. whew! I never thought that abs could be that powerful! yum yum! =)
